Film!
This past week, I shot the promotional materials for the new, yet to be titled, Robbie Seay Band record (which will come out later this summer). I have worked with these guys in various capacities for the last couple of years and was very excited to have been chosen by EMI for this project.
That really isn’t the point though. The point is that I did something while shooting that I haven’t done in nearly two years: I shot some film. Beautiful, chemical-ly, analog film. It was wonderful. I was reminded of what it feels like to have some separation between the shutter fire and the viewing of the image. Not to get too philosophical, but that space between shutter firing and viewing can be pretty sacred space…
Granted, I was using a vintage polaroid camera, so that gap was only about 30 seconds…but nonetheless…
Me with a clunky “analog” camera to my face…
And then, waiting for the timer to ding so that we can pull apart the negative…anticipating…
After a handful of images had been shot…though I just couldn’t shake the idea that each one of those images represented a medium sized Americano at any coffee shop… :)
