Fireworks!

So, this was one of my twitter posts just before the July 4th weekend:

Now part of the reason that I don’t like to take concert photographs (very often), as I have said before, is that I cannot really enjoy the music if I am focused on capturing the images.  I cannot multi-task when it comes to creating visual media.  Good when I am working, but not necessarily good when I am just enjoying something… I think it is good discipline to let some moments go without trying to capture them…

As my mom says, “sometimes you have to just let it wash over you…”

Well, I feel the same way EVERY year at the the 4th of July… I know that I will NEVER use fireworks images, I know that in all likelihood, they will NEVER see the light of day.  Not to mention, usually one photograph of fireworks is about the same as ALL photographs of fireworks… Yet, I cannot help but feel like I should be making images of the exploding gas up there in the sky.

So, this year, I didn’t follow my own RT twitter advice, though I did compromise a bit… No stills, just video, and mostly abstract video at that… So, I was able to enjoy (most) of the show.
